Late decision to be made on Naby Keita fitness whilst Lallana returns

Jurgen Klopp says he is unsure whether Naby Keita will be available to face Man City this weekend, whilst Adam Lallana is back in full training.

Keita, who made his first European start for the Reds during Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League, was stretchered off the field with a back injury.

He was subsequently taken to a local hospital in Naples where the Guinean international underwent thorough examination and was given the all clear to fly back with the squad on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters at his pre-City press conference, Klopp said he is unsure whether Keita will feature against City, but he will make a late decision on his inclusion.

“Not 100 per cent sure, he had a back spasm. So we have to wait a little bit,” Klopp said.

“He will be in today; if he can do something on the training ground, I don’t know. I spoke to the Doc this morning but he didn’t know.

“We have to see him again in a few minutes and then we will make a decision about that.

“We don’t know in this moment as well if he can train tomorrow, we have to see. It didn’t look too serious, so there’s a chance but we don’t know.”

The Reds face fellow Premier League table-toppers Manchester City on Sunday, with the Reds hoping to secure a win that would see them in first place going into the October international break.

Keita's possible availability could be a huge boost to Klopp, with Liverpool's midfield in Naples looking far too pedestrian at times.

Klopp also confirmed that there are no other injury worries whilst reporting that midfielder Adam Lallana is back in full training after being sidelined with an injury he suffered on international duty for England last month.

“Nothing real in the moment, apart from the things we know,” he said when asked for an injury update.

“[Lallana] is in full training, we have to see. They are all in full training.”
