Liverpool handed double injury boost ahead of crucial month

Jurgen Klopp has been handed a double injury boost ahead of a crucial month for the club, as the Reds look to solidify their top four place and reach the final of the Champions League.

Liverpool need two more Premier League wins to guarantee a top-four finish, whilst they face AS Roma in a two-legged tie in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The Reds' remaining domestic games are against West Brom (A) - starting this weekend, Stoke (H), Chelsea (A) and Brighton (H).

According to The Telegraph, the Liverpool manager is expecting Joe Gomez to be back in contention for the trip to The Hawthorns this weekend.

Meanwhile, Dejan Lovren‘s substitution, following a suspected groin injury in the second half of Saturday’s 3-0 home win against Bournemouth, is believed to have been merely 'a precaution'.

Gomez has missed Liverpool's last five fixtures, having suffered an ankle injury whilst on international duty for England.

However, the 20-year-old is hopeful of being fit for this weekend, or if that may come too soon - the Champions League first leg against Roma at Anfield on 24 April.

The news will surely come at a good time for Jurgen Klopp, who is also without Joel Matip for the rest of the season.

Klopp will lead his Liverpool side in to a European semi-final for the second time in a short three years.

The German famously made a statement to Liverpool fans when he arrived, in 2015, saying they must turn from "doubters to believers". The atmosphere surrounding Anfield and the club epitomises that at this moment of time, and Klopp appears to have noticed.

“The mood is so positive in Liverpool; we had a walk in the city – which we always do when we’re in the hotel (pre-match) - and it kind of felt like a parade already,” said Klopp.

“The people were clapping their hands and beeping their horn and shouting ‘Well done’. But we still had to play Bournemouth.

“We know it was good but the next game needs to be good as well. That’s quite a challenge for the human side of us. The boys did really well.”
