Liverpool and Everton square off Wednesday, April 24th at for one of the more important Merseyside Derbies in recent history. Liverpool look to continue their push for an EPL title while would love nothing more than to spoil that opportunity for their nearest rivals.

Jota Injured

After being relatively injury-free for one of the few times all season, Diogo Jota was injured just before scoring a goal in Liverpool's 3-1 win vs. Fulham.

“I cannot really say a lot about it, to be honest, Jürgen Klopp said. “Before which game where he didn't start, he got a knock – normal challenge, then felt a little bit at the hip. That was then fine because we didn't start him, brought him on, that was alright.“Then he started the last game, was obviously OK and then with the finish… it's a small one but we are late in the season, so obviously now it's not a great moment for each injury pretty much.“It's not a big one. When I say two weeks, actually really it's pretty much nothing but enough to not be available.”

Toffee Talk

Everton have overcome a 10-point deduction for violating the 's Profitability and Sustainability Rules to stay above the relegation line. They have won two of their last three EPL matches. They are a balanced side as Abdoulaye Doucouré and Dominik Calvert Lewin lead the club with six goals each. In the previous meeting at Anfield, Liverpool won 2-0.

Series History

As you might have guessed there is plenty of history between these two clubs. This will be the 244th meeting and Liverpool are looking for their 100th in the fixture. A win in his final Derby would give Klopp 10 wins over Everton in his tenure as boss, the most wins vs the Toffees by any manager in club history. He would also be just the second manager to win his first and last game vs Everton, joining Sir Kenny Dalglish. Liverpool have gotten a result in 26 out of their last 27 Premier League meetings with Everton.

LFC Globe Verdict

The Geographical closeness of Liverpool and Everton is foreign to football fans who do not live in England. For example,  American club Charlotte FC's nearest rival is Atlanta United and the two clubs are separated by 228 miles (367 kilometres). Everton and Liverpool are less than one mile apart. No matter where the two clubs are at on the table this is a big one. The Jota injury stings a bit, particularly since he played so well in the last match. This match is so closely contested that I don't see a blowout coming. In fact, I think they settle for a , unfortunately.

Where To Watch

The match will kick off at 20:00 BST and will air on Sky Sports. American audiences can stream at 3:00 PM EST on Peacock Premium while Canadian viewers can stream via fuboTV.
